Pela primeira vez na série Guitar Hero, você poderá personalizar o som da sua banda com qualquer combinação de instrumentos no jogo: dois violões e duas baterias, ou três guitarras e um microfone, etc. Guitar Hero 5 terá também novos modos de jogabilidade como Party Play e RockFest gerando mais diversão e competição, podendo controlar os fãs para corresponderem ao seu estilo e interesse musical.
